Scott started playing minor soccer with the U-6’s at the age of 4 and is still playing today as a member of the Laurentians Masters team. He has also coached minor soccer.

Over the years Scott played on many BPSA all-star teams and two provincial all-star teams. He also played University soccer with MUN for three years. Scott was a very valuable member of the Laurentians Challenge Cup team for 16 years.

During his career he has won many individual awards. In minor soccer he has won most valuable player awards and most gentlemanly effective awards. As a member of the provincial U-16 all-star team he was awarded player of the game against Nova Scotia scoring the winning goal in overtime. With the senior Laurentians he earned most improved player & most gentlemanly and effective player honours.

As a team player he always contributed to the success of the Laurentians and provincial teams having great success during his long career. Three Under 18 provincials titles, two Atlantic under 16 titles, two Under 21 provincial titles, two Provincal Indoor Soccer titles, nine Provincal Challenge Cup titles, numerous Burin Peninsula Senior titles, National Bronze medal 1999 in Chilliwack, National Silver medal 2002 in St. John’s, three Masters Provincial titles, two Eastern Canadian Masters Gold medals 2006 & 2007.

Since Scott started playing Senior soccer at a young age, he had the opportunity to play with and learn from such greats as Jr. Edwards, Eddy Kelly, Glen Doyle, and Dion “nipper” Kettle. Most of his sixteen years I had the pleasure of playing with five of my closest friends all of whom are being inducted here tonight; Harry Kelly, Paul Slaney, Bob Spearns, Keith Jackman and Noel Doyle.

The minor coaches who had the most influence on him and taught what it took to win were Jr. Edwards, Eddy Kelly and Jim Loder and Senior coaches Jr. Edwards, Junior Doyle, Greg Quirke and Gord Dunphy. He watched and was influenced by his uncles, Jim and Leo Loder and also by Greg Quirke, Jr. Edwards and Frank Haskell. Scott credits his parents for their support carrying him to many practices, games and tournaments, and this was invaluable in developing him into the soccer player he became.

Scott enjoys being involved in Soccer in St. Lawrence because he wants to keep alive the tradition of winning teams in St. Lawrence. From a very young age he dreamed of playing Senior soccer for the “Big Blue Machine” & felt it was an honour to wear the blue Laurentian jersey out onto the field in front of so many loyal fans. He enjoyed the camaraderie & playing with many of his closest friends and they were like a band of brothers together.

Some of Scott’s most memorable moments was scoring the winning goal for his first Challenge Cup win in 1993 defeating Burin 1-0, Winning a National Bronze medal 1999 in Chillawack, BC., Winning a National Silver medal in 2002 in front of our home fans, Winning two Eastern Canadian Masters Championships 2006 & 2007.

Scott is inducted into the St. Lawrence Hall of Fame alongside his grandfather Leo Loder, his uncles Jim & Leo Loder Jr., and his mother Betty who is also inducted on the Wall of Honour.
