As a young boy growing up in Little St. Lawrence, playing soccer first and foremost meant you played on the farm and so did Moe Clarke pay his duties by playing on the farm. Moe's high school soccer career was in St. John's, playing with Gonzaga High in 1968, 1969 & 1970. Actually, in 1972, Moe won Top Goal Scorer in all of the St. John's High School Soccer System.

In 1972, Moe Clarke moved back to St. Lawrence to work at Alcan. It was after this that Moe Clarke built up a very credible soccer reputation in St. Lawrence. Moe was a star member of the St. Lawrence second division in 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976. In 1973, he was top goal scorer. In 1974, he won the MVP honours for his club. His team won both the Burin Peninsula Championship and All- Newfoundland Championships in 1972, 1974 and in 1975.

Also during this period, Moe Clarke became so highly regarded that he became an alternate member of the St. Lawrence Laurentians 1st division. Although Moe may not have been a mainstay with the 1st Division Laurentians, who won the Team of the Decade award, Moe Clarke was certainly a contributor to their success.

After Moe's senior playing days ended, he assisted with the Minor Soccer coaching program and played with the Laurentians Master team in 1978 and in 1979. Just recently in 2002, Moe coached the St. Lawrence U-18 girls to an All-Newfoundland Provincial Title.
