Keith Jackman

Keith was born in St. Lawrence but spent his earlier years in Lords Cove, where he was coached by Ray Beck. In 1981 he moved back to St. Lawrence and as they say “the rest is history” or in Keith’s case history is still being written.

As a boy when Keith would attend the games he would sit behind the Laurentian goal and watch Al Slaney & Hubert Beck playing studying their every move. The soccer field was his classroom and he learned from the best. When Keith was at the junior level Greg Quirke took him in to the field just the 2 of them and he showed Keith some of the basic things that he should be doing.

Keith played at every level of soccer and even though he has played the game for almost 30 years he still has that will to compete, and to this day plays Intermediate and Masters.

Keith has won many individual awards over the years BPSA minor soccer MVP, SLSA Most Dedicated twice, SLSA Most Gentlemanly & Effective, SLSA MVP twice, named Challenge Cup All Star 1991, 1992 & 2000. Master MVP 2005 & 2006 and also MVP at the Eastern Canadian Masters. Keith has won over 30 individual awards.

But it is as a team member that his contribution was most outstanding as he helped Laurentian & Provincial teams to numerous championships which include three Under 18 Provincial titles, two Under 18 Atlantic titles, two Under 21 Provincial titles, two Provincial Indoor titles, eight Provincial Challenge Cup titles, numerous Burin Peninsula titles, National Challenge Cup Bronze medal 1999, three Provincial Masters titles, two Eastern Canadian Masters Gold medals 2006 & 2007.

Over the years Keith was coached by Jack Simms, Jr. Edwards, Gord Dunphy, Greg Quirke, Jim Loder and played with some of the best players in St. Lawrence including Wils Molloy, Jr. Edwards, Eddy Kelly, Hubert Beck as well as his teammates being inducted as well tonight Harry Kelly, Dr. Paul Slaney, Scott Bishop, Bob Spearns & Noel Doyle.

Today besides still playing the game that he loves, Keith volunteers with minor soccer and his pride & joy son Marcus can always be seen playing with a soccer ball. Keith is volunteering wherever he can with St. Lawrence Soccer and giving back to the game as so many others gave of their time and knowledge to him.

Keith’s most memorable moments were winning his first Challenge Cup in 93, winning the National Challenge Cup Bronze medal in 1999 in Chilliwack & winning the Gold medal at the Eastern Canadian Masters in 2006. There are so many memories that he will cherish them the rest of his life and share them with his son Marcus.

We welcome Keith Jackman into the St. Lawrence Hall of Fame.
