Jerome was born in St. Lawrence on May 14, 1946. After learning to kick a soccer ball on the HOG, he progressed to the High School system playinq against Burin Peninsula teams and Brother Rice of St. Johns.

He played Junior soccer in 1967 and was called up in the latter part of the season by the Senior Laurentians coach, the late Jack Lundrigan He went on to help the Senior team win the Burin Peninsula, All-Newfoundland, and Atlantic Provinces Championships.

After a five hear absence from St. Lawrence, Jerome returned in 1972 and continued playing soccer at the 2nd and 3rd Division. He joined the playing-coach status in 1974 with the 3rd Division helping out coach Gerald (Moose) Fitzpatrick.

In 1979-80 Jerome served on a committee for the 1980 Newfoundland and Labrador Summer Games, acting as chairman for the soccer tournament. That same year he co-ordinated the Under-l8 National Soccer Tournment played in St. Lawrence.

During his many years of involvement Jerome won the host Gentlemanly and Effective Award on three occasions; won coaching awards in 1976 for a 2nd Division All - Newfoundland Championship and the Under-16 All-Newfoundland Championship in 1992

As a tribute to his contribution to soccer, he received a Canada 125th Anniversary Volunteer Award from the Governor General of Canada.

Jerome continues to this very day coaching minor soccer during the winter proqrarn and is always offering his assistance to the summer proqram.

He is married to the former Doreen Quirke and they have three children, Jerome, Paul, and Perry, who are very active in the game of soccer.
