Frank was a typical boy growing up in St. Lawrence playing soccer everywhere waiting to get old enough to play with the Under 12 Peewee team. His coach, Len Slaney, had no problems in finding a position for this highly skilled and talented player. Playing two years Peewee and two years Bantam, Frank helped his Laurentians win four Provincial titles. Frank also played with the high school varsity team winning two more Provincial championships.

In 1972 Frank started playing senior soccer winning a Provincial title for the 2nd Division Laurentians.

In 1973 Frank played a lot of soccer, as he was a member of the Newfoundland Canada Games team that played in Burnaby, B. C., a member of the Newfoundland Provincial Under 18 who played in Montreal, Quebec and a full member of the Senior Laurentians.

Frank played with the Laurentians from 1973 to 1985 with one exception, 1978, when he worked and played a with a C. B. S. team along with another Hall of Famer, Junior Doyle.

During Frank's 12 years with the 1st Division, the Senior Laurentians won six Challenge Cups, a number of All-Newfoundland titles, two Premiers Cups and a number of Invitational tournaments.

Frank won a number of individual awards including Most Improved, Most Gentlemanly and Effective Player, Tournament MVP's, and the most important one of all, he was the first winner of the Robert Kelly Memorial Trophy for the best overall player in St. Lawrence.

Besides being a top caliber Laurentian player, Frank also gave back to the game, serving for six years on the St. Lawrence Soccer Association, two as President, one as Secretary, one as Minor Chairman, and two as Director. Frank is very proud of his children's involvement in soccer with David as an official, Grant and Laura as players.
