Betty Bishop

Born and raised in St. Lawrence, Betty grew up watching her father Leo Loder play soccer as well as her brothers Bud, Dan, Jack, Ted, Jim and Leo.

She was also a soccer mom to sons Eric & Scott and supported them in every way, fundraising, travelling, washing uniforms or whatever needed to be done.

She continued to support Scott as he progressed through the junior and senior levels.

Betty is currently retired but still enjoys watching and supporting St. Lawrence Soccer especially her granddaughter Jessica Bishop who is currently playing with the BPSA U 14 All Stars.

She has always enjoyed watching the games and cheering for son Scott, nephews Adam and Jamie Loder ,Ryan Slaney and Richard Kelly and nieces Jacinta, Julia & Ashley Loder.

Some of her most memorable moments came when the Laurentians won the bronze medal in Chilliwack ,B. C. in 1999. She said that it was an honour to be there as a fan. She also remembers fondly 2002 when the Laurentians won the silver in St. John`s, NL.

Every year at the St. Lawrence Soccer Minor soccer awards banquet Betty presents an award in memory of her father Leo to the best minor female soccer player.

Betty is entering the St. Lawrence Soccer Wall of Honour and taking her place alongside her father Leo Loder, her brothers Jim and Leo as well as her son Scott who is being inducted as well.

To the players on the teams they were always referred to as “The Golden Girls”. But whenever you wanted anything done at a Nationals or at any time there was NO doubt that you could call on them and they were always there. Whether it was washing uniforms for half the night so the players wouldn’t have to do it and would have fresh uniforms to play in or sewing crests on uniforms, or any number of other requests, you could always count on “The Golden Girls” to be there to support their players and their heroes.

They have attended countless Challenge Cup Nationals together and in fact it became part of their annual holiday to be together and be the true fans they are at every Challenge Cup National Tournament St. Lawrence plays in.

It is fitting that they be inducted to the Wall of Honour together as they are always inseparable.
